Lack of knowledge

I believe I have spoken on this before; however, I think I missed a key point about what God was speaking about when it comes to this. Let's start with the verse on this topic.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.
Therefore, my people go into exile for lack of knowledge; their honored men go hungry, and their multitude is parched with thirst.
As we delve into the themes of this blog, I want to emphasize that at the conclusion, I will include both chapters in full, as the verses contained within are remarkably relevant to the challenges and circumstances we face in today’s world. While some may argue that these scriptures were intended solely for the Jewish people, I firmly believe that God's word transcends cultural and temporal boundaries, offering guidance and insight applicable to all who are saved. Ultimately, these passages serve as a poignant reflection of humanity's condition in our contemporary society, shedding light on the struggles, hopes, and spiritual dilemmas that resonate with many individuals today.
With that said, let’s delve deeply into the heart of the issue at hand, as it is complex and layered in ways that might not be immediately apparent to everyone. I recognize that my perspective could differ from others, or perhaps my interpretation of the situation may not align with common viewpoints. I invite you to share your insights and understanding, as I genuinely wish to hear how you perceive the nuances of this conversation. Your perspective could illuminate aspects that I might have overlooked or misinterpreted.
I believe that many people do not fully grasp the profound meaning behind what God conveys when He speaks about a "lack of knowledge." To explore this concept more deeply, I want to begin with a fundamental understanding: if you have not embraced salvation, there are spiritual truths and insights that may remain beyond your comprehension. When I refer to knowledge, I am not discussing mere worldly information or intellectual understanding; rather, I am talking about divine wisdom. This wisdom encompasses a deeper awareness of spiritual realities, moral discernment, and a genuine connection with the divine, which can only be truly appreciated through a relationship with God.
In scripture, it is emphasized that God warns us about how Satan blinds the minds of those who choose not to follow Him. This blindness does not stem from a lack of knowledge or intelligence; in fact, many individuals in the world hold advanced degrees and possess intellectual capabilities that surpass my own. This observation serves to highlight that the spiritual blindness I refer to is not related to one’s educational accomplishments or cognitive abilities. Rather, it reflects a deeper issue of the heart and spirit—a conscious decision to turn away from God, despite any worldly intelligence or knowledge that may be achieved.
In order to fully comprehend the intricate dynamics of our society, it is vital to have a clear understanding of who God is. This knowledge serves as a guiding light in a world filled with competing ideologies and influences. Without this crucial understanding, the entity you choose to worship may not embody our Lord and Savior, but instead represent the god of this world, a figure that often symbolizes the temptations and distractions that lead us astray. By deepening your connection to the true nature of God, you can gain profound insights into the moral fabric and spiritual currents that shape our collective existence.
Here, let me share a scripture with you so we can break it down.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Jesus states that He is the way and the truth. Let's pause here for a moment, as this is crucial. Truth is based on knowledge, isn't it? If you agree, then without knowing who Jesus is, how can we attain true biblical knowledge? We cannot.
Many people may claim to be followers of Christ, yet their actions and attitudes may suggest otherwise. If they truly belonged to Him, they would be attuned to His voice, recognizing and responding to His guidance in their lives. Hearing God’s voice involves a deep understanding of His Word, which is the foundation of our relationship with Him. Within the Scriptures, we find that true wisdom originates from God alone; it is not something that can be manufactured or fully comprehended by human intellect alone. Therefore, if one's life is not aligned with God's teachings and principles, it raises the question of whether they are genuinely following Him or merely stating so without true conviction. It is essential to seek wisdom from God, as it is through His revelations and insights that we gain clarity and direction in both our spiritual and everyday lives.
God tells us that it is He who gives knowledge and understanding, which gives birth to the wisdom God provides for all who come to Him.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!
For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
For to the one who pleases him God has given wisdom and knowledge and joy, but to the sinner, he has given the business of gathering and collecting, only to give to one who pleases God. This also is vanity and a striving after wind.
And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption,
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him,
In these verses, it becomes evident that God is the ultimate source of divine knowledge and understanding. Before Jesus ascended into heaven, He took the time to clarify an important aspect of His mission to His disciples. He told them that it was necessary for Him to leave so that a helper, whom the Father would send, could come to them. This helper, often understood to be the Holy Spirit, would provide guidance, comfort, and insight that would empower the disciples in their faith and ministry. Jesus emphasized the significance of this promise, reassuring them that although He would no longer be physically present, they would not be left alone; they would receive divine assistance to lead them in their journey of faith.
The Holy Spirit is the divine presence that dwells within every individual who has accepted salvation. It is through the Holy Spirit that we are granted genuine insight and understanding of all truths. This sacred connection serves as a bridge between Jesus and His followers. While the original disciples had the privilege of walking alongside the Lord during His earthly ministry, we have been given the invaluable written documents of Scripture. When we engage with these texts—through reading, studying, and meditating on them—the Holy Spirit plays an essential role by bringing to our minds the teachings and lessons we have absorbed. This empowerment ensures that, in moments of need or uncertainty, we can recall and apply the wisdom gleaned from our spiritual journeys and the Word of God.
This is not gained through regular mean this is a divine process that only comes from God. This cannot be attained by traditional means because it is divine by nature.
It is a nature that God has instilled in all of mankind, leaving us without excuse. As the scriptures declare, the evidence of His truth and presence is clearly revealed to us, both in creation and in our own consciences. Yet, despite this God-given awareness, we often choose to suppress and reject the truth. We do this because, in our fallen state, we love the comfort of our own darkness—our sins, selfish desires, and pride—more than we love God’s marvelous light, which exposes, corrects, and transforms us.
Romans 1:19-20
19. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.
I recently watched a man debate Chod O Jackson about his MLK project, and the exchange left me deeply concerned. Throughout the discussion, this man repeatedly quoted Scripture, but instead of handling God’s word faithfully, he bent and reshaped it to support his own ideas. Rather than allowing the text to speak for itself in its proper context and original meaning, he selectively emphasized certain phrases and ignored others, twisting the message so it appeared to justify his position. In doing so, he treated the Bible not as God’s authoritative word to be understood and obeyed, but as a tool to reinforce what he had already decided to believe, instead of what it was actually written to teach.
This is where many people go astray: they would rather rely on their own feelings and emotions than hold steadfast to God’s Word. When personal opinions, shifting moods, and cultural trends become the standard for truth, instead of the unchanging principles found in Scripture, it opens the door to confusion and error. Over time, this way of thinking leads to all kinds of mishandling of God’s Word—twisting passages to fit personal desires, ignoring verses that bring conviction, and taking Scripture out of context to justify sinful choices. As a result, the clear guidance that God has provided becomes blurred, not because His Word is unclear, but because it is no longer being approached with humility, reverence, and obedience.
I hope I was clear, because my prayer is that this helps bring clarity to the purpose of God’s Word.
